COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY

I believe there is help and healing available to everyone.  The Lord has promised to help us in every situation, His strength to endure and His peace in the midst of great difficulty.  I seek to help those who are struggling and hurting find the help the Lord has for them.  I have found that the help He provides for us does not always look like what we expect or want, but is much better because it draws us closer to Him and gives us the opportunity to know Him intimately if we will allow it.  One of my main goals in counseling is to help people experience relief and healing through the Holy Spirit, as early as the first session.

I believe in the whole word of God (the Bible) and counsel from a Biblical perspective.  This means that I counsel from what is written in the  Bible as opposed to a specific denomination.

I take a whole person approach, taking into account the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of a persons life.

Counseling orientations I operate in frequently consist of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy when working with children, Solution Focused Therapy.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Mansfield University, which was followed by my Master's degree in Counseling at Geneva College.  I have been serving in the field since 2005.

I began my career working at the KidsPeace Intensive Residential Program located in Orefield, PA in June 2005.  There I provided individual, group and family therapy to adolescent and their families who were dealing with significant challenges.

In 2008, I transitioned to KidsPeace Outpatient Services located in Allentown and then in Bethlehem.  From 2008 until 2013, I served as a therapist and toward the end, supervisor.

From 2008 to 2010, I also began establishing a private practice through Community Psychological Services in Allentown PA.  I went back to Community Psychological Services in the Fall of 2013 until I established a private practice in 2014.

November 2020, I joined Foundations Christian Counseling.
